History
In Spring 2005 Sarah Heward and her late husband Steve Wolsey bought the derelict former Little Chef and in a matter of a few months turned it into The Real Food Café.
The aim was to offer locally sourced and homemade snack meals at reasonable prices in a relaxed environment to locals and the broad cross section of travellers passing through Tyndrum.
Tragically Steve died very suddenly and unexpectedly in May 2006 but fortunately the café survived and we have striven to create something that Steve would be proud of today.
Over the years we have grown the menu and added and removed things but the general principles and goal remains the same. We currently make all our own cakes, soups, vegi rostis, mushy peas, tartare sauce, salads and desserts and we don't use any mixes. Our pies and butchery all comes locally as do our beers and ice cream. We recently introduced a line of merchandise after being asked numerous times by enthusiastic and loyal customers.
Community involvement has always been an important ingredient at the café and our list of events we sponsor and our fund raising activity combined have continue to grow year on year.
